Swedish game development company Fanchinima AB, a start-up funded by Innovationsbron and foundert Christopher Kingdon, open the offices of Fanchinima OÜ on October 14th. Tartu businessman Teet Jagomägi is appointed Director of the board for both Fanchinima OÜ and Fanchinima AB.

Fanchinima develops a completely new type of game with which consumers can create and share their own movies. The game is partly based on research performed by Associate Professor Jonas Beskow (Chief Scientist, Fanchinima AB) at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm.

The first staff consists of back end programmer Toomas Laasik, game design & marketing consultant Edvin Aedma and financial manager Merle Laks. Fanchinima are initially hiring three additional employees. A front-end programmer strong in user interfaces, a competent 2D/3D artist and an additional back end programmer.

“Ambitions are high. Not only are we hoping to have great success with Fanchinima but we are also hoping to be a driving force in establishing Estonia as a strong game development country” – says Örjan Frid, Chairman of Fanchinima AB

“My experience, since 10 years, of working with Tartu based IT companies, and the fact that the Tartu University, Department of Information Sciences, Viljandi Culture Adademy, have started a Master of Arts program for Design and Development of Virtual Environments and run a course on Videogame Design & Development, made it an easy decision for me to start a Tartu based daughter company” – says Christopher Kingdon, investor in, and CEO of Fanchinima AB.

Fanchinima is a company, a game and the name of a new concept, the concept of turning fan fiction manuscripts into machine made cinema, so called Machinima. The Fanchinima game allows consumers to produce their own animated movies. Typical customers are writers of fan fiction and fans of Machinima. Fanchinima is headquartered in Stockholm.
